Lorna Boudreaux MS CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

Hi! I have been a Master's level Speech Language Pathologist for more than a decade. I graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders. I then went on to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and graduate with a Master's degree in Communicative Disorders. Upon graduation I completed my CFY in the school system and earned my Clinical Certificate of Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. Throughout my years in the school system I have had the privilege to work with a wide range of ages and a variety of needs. In those years I discovered a passion for working with complex communicators and Neurodivergent individuals including children and young adults diagnosed with Autism, High Support Needs, and Semantic/Pragmatic Language Disorders.

In 2011 my husband and I became parents to an extraordinary little boy who changed our lives forever. I am the mother of a Neurodivegent child and I have learned so much as a Speech Pathologist from him. He taught me that his brain is just wired differently, not less, not abnormal, just different. It is not my job to change him but as his mom I want to help him find ways to communicate with his world. He needs to be able to say no to things that aren't safe, advocate for himself when things are hard, and make relationships with others in a way that is comfortable for him too!

Fast forward a few years and we welcomed a set of feisty twins that created lots of chaos but added so much learning and love to our home.

Becoming a mother helped me in many ways to improve my therapeutic abilities. I will always treat your child like one of my own when we are working together. My goal is to help your family strengthen connections with your child or loved one by strengthening communication skills.

IS not a thing; it is

I believe in using researched based therapy  techniques to improve the lives of my clients through communication therapy. I have attended and participated in many courses to expand my tool box of evidenced based therapy options. I am qualified to provide therapy using the SMARTER Intervention,  SCERTS model and Core Vocabulary .

When working with your child or loved one, I will always presume competence. I believe that everyone can learn, everyone can find a way to communicate, and make connections. Finding a way for you or your child to express yourself to navigate our ever changing world is my top priority.
